I am very curious about printing small runs for a zine I have begun. I looked into Melon Press STL, and am interested. I talked with my friend ELI who runs the unresolved zine in chicago. They said that they know someone that runs a print house, so they're able to learn the risograph machine and use it themself while paying for materials. I really like this idea since I prefer doing everything myself, and even if I did have the money, I would prefer not to pay someone else to do something for me. I think people my age have nothing to hold in their hands. There are definitely people making zines, of course, but it feels like there is such little focus on it. I feel like people prefer to scroll instagram and happen upon half baked stories for their info on shows and such. Essentially using social media as the primary, if not only, means to engage with artists around them. I really want to make things more tangible like wheatpasting signs around, printing zines with interviews, opinions, promotions, etc. cool clothes, posters etc. I think that would be such a cool way for people to engage with the scene. Speaking of the scene, I feel like the scene I have been a part of for a while now is so murky, every show is so scatterbrained and there's a little too much happening. I try to book pretty cohesive stuff myself. but that will be for another post. anyways, if anyone has any ideas or any ideas pls let me know goomanstl@gmail.com
